Hello and welcome to the Durham Tees Valley Probation Trust Website. I hope you find our site interesting. Our aim is to let people know about the important work we do.
Most people visiting our website will have heard the word ‘Probation’ before. Fewer people will be aware of the scale and breadth of the work we do. The most important thing about our work is that we do it on behalf of the Community, working with key partners to protect the public from harm and reduce reoffending.
Our task is a challenging one. At any one time our staff are involved in supervising approximately 7,700 offenders with approximately 1,500 of those serving a custodial sentence. Approximately 8,000 reports for Courts and the Parole Board are prepared each year and contribute to the work of the Courts in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington, Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Peterlee and Consett and the Crown Courts in Teesside and Durham.
