The Trust Board

Welcome to Durham Tees Valley Probation Trust. This Probation Trust is a Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Ministry of Justice. It is one of 35 Trusts in England and Wales that were established on 1 April 2010 under the Offender Management Act 2007 (Establishment of Probation Trust) Order 2010.

The principal purpose of the Trust is to deliver specified services in a contract with the Secretary of State for Justice through the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).

Governance of the Trust rests with a local Board of Directors, of which the Chairman, Non-Executive Directors and the Chief Executive Officer are appointed by the Secretary of State. The role of our Board differs little from Boards operating in the private sector or elsewhere in the public sector: it provides the strategic direction, vision and values that drives the business of the Trust, as well as ensuring that the necessary financial and human resources are available to deliver the objectives as set out in our Business Plan, while holding management to account for operational performance.

More is said about the Trust, our Board and activities elsewhere on this site. I hope you will find our work of interest.

Sebert Cox, OBE Chairman
