What kind of work is completed?

When completing their Unpaid Work requirement offenders are expected to complete work which:

  • Is challenging and demanding
  • Gives them an opportunity to put something back into their community
  • Is visible, so the community can see offenders paying back for their crimes
  • Is of clear benefit to the local community
  • Is worthwhile, constructive and can give offenders new skills

Examples of the type of work or projects, which are completed in the community as Community Payback, include:

  • Removing graffiti
  • Clearing litter and debris
  • Repairing and re-decorating community centres
  • Maintaining the grounds of churches
  • Working in charity shops
