What if you are on Licence?

Sometimes, you will be released from prison early to serve the rest of your custodial sentence in the community, which is called being on licence.

The purpose of being released on a licence is to help you to settle back into the community with support from your Offender Manager and other agencies and services in your local area. This may involve helping you to find a job, a good place to live or helping you to find positive things to do with your time. You will also be expected to keep working to sort out any problems or avoid anything which could get you into trouble.

When you are on licence, you will given a list of instructions to follow, which are called ‘conditions’. You will be given a copy of your licence conditions and your Offender Manager will make sure that you understand what you must do.
