Suspended Sentence Orders

The length imposed for requirements as part of a Suspended Sentence Order can not exceed 24 months. The Suspended Sentence Order must specify a custodial penalty of between 2 and 26 weeks for a single offence and up to 51 weeks for multiple offences. The Magistrates Court can impose a maximum of 26 weeks imprisonment as part of a Suspended Sentence Order. The Court must also specify the operational period between 6 and 24 months during which time the requirements must be completed. The requirement length cannot exceed the operational period, which is a maximum of 24 months.
